I currently use alliant 2400 for my 44mag, .45colt and 10mm. I like it because you can load some pretty hot loads but also are able to load them down. I just want something thats cleaner burning with similar power numbers.

Winchester 296 or Hodgdon 110.
Virtually identical powders, and are very close to 2400. AA #9 might also fit the bill.

I've been using H4227 and an H110 milsurp equivalent, WC820 in .45 Colt. I used H4227 in .44 Rem. Mag. The WC820 is very clean in the .45 Colt. The H4227 is OK in hot loads, but does leave unburned residue in lighter loads in the .45 Colt. H4227 in the .44 Mag. was great, but again I loaded fairly warm loads. Very clean with a 250 gr. Nosler Partition and 24 gr. of H4227. I bought a can of Hodgdon's Lil Gun for .45 Colt, but have yet to try it.

AA #9 and 4227 are cleaner and slower than 2400 and can be downloaded, but being slower will lead to lots of unburned powder when downloaded. Lil Gun is a little faster than 2400, and is supposed to be real clean but I haven't tried it yet.
Hard to get a full clean burn of your powder when you download, have you tried using a faster powder like Universal Clays for the lighter loads? |

W296, AA9.
Suggest AA9 for the 10mm, W296 for 44 and 45C. For 'medium' loads recommend Hodgdon Universal Clays or HS6.
