Good morning! this is my first posting on the forum.The question I have is I use Rcbs dies for my .308 and 30-06 reloading and while using the dies for seating and crimping I wind up bulging the necks.I have heard of people haveing success with the Lee crimp dies,and checking the Midway catalog I see there are "Factory crimp dies" and "Taper crimp dies".My shooting is done with either an M1A or a Garand and I'm not sure which is best for my application.Any imput will be appreciated.

Stuka,you just dive bombed me.
 I just purchased one(it was in the set) for my 280 Rem and was going to ask the same question.Seems like a nice crimp and easily adjustable for the amount of crimp also. Lee factory crimp dies.. yes, yes, yes.. but only for the channelured (sp?) bullets.
Taper crip dies for the rest... Well... let me think about that for a sec... Hmmm.. I don't see why you couldn't use the Lee factory crimp on all of them.. I think I'll try it.. Pat in in. |

Yes, by all means try the Lee Factory Crimp Die on non canalured bullets, BUT not with max loads or bullets seated to touch the lands. Watch for pressure signs AND group size.

It sounds like your problem is not in the die but in your die settings.I think you are crimping before the bullet is seated.With this happening you will put a lot of pressure on the case and buldge it.Give it a check.
