200 gr lead bullet data for 44?
I can't seem to find any 44 special or 44 mag data for Unique using 200 gr cast bullets using Unique powder. I loaded up some at 9 grs, 200 gr LFNRP in a 44 mag case, based on a recommendation, but I would like to confirm that this is a safe load. I'm looking for a plinking load for my 44 mag with this combination. Thanks.

You be able to use this data from Lyman's #47 for your 200 grain bullet. They show loads for a 205 grain, so we're not talking about any kind of adjustment on the powder. I've used 7.5 grains of Unique with a 200 grain SWC bullet with .44 Special cases. It will leave some powder residue since it's a pretty light load.
For .44 Magnum cases you'll have to go a little heavier. See attached.

"...show loads for a 205 grain..." With a gas check.
The Lyman Pistol and Revolver Handbook has .44 mag 200 grain cast Unique data. 11.0 to 13.2. Oddly it doesn't list a 200 grain cast bullet for the Special. However, like cdrt says, 205 grain data will do. 5 grains isn't enough to worry about. 7.0 to 8.2 for the 205 grain cast .44 Special. Your 9 grains is under min for the Mag, over max for a Special. If you don't have a manual go buy one. Guessing isn't a good idea. The latest Lyman book is best. It has more loads using more powders and bullet weights than any bullet maker's book.

We just discussed this a few days ago
Had a good conversation regarding cast 200 grain bullets in both 44 magnum and 44 special.
http://www.thefiringline.com/forums/...d.php?t=282702 There are a number of good starting points in there, including some for Unique. Jeff
