Keith bullets in .45 ACP

Has anyone had any luck with them?

My STI feeds SWC's like grain through a goose, but I have not tried any Keith bullets in it. I do however, run Keith bullets exclusively in my .45 Colt. I have several boxes of 270 gr's for it, but would like to try some 250's in the ACP.

My logic is that if I can get some 250 grainers and get them seated to 1.250, they ought to work real fine for social engagements.

Actually, Keith designed a .452 bullet of 240 grains in the old Ideal #452423 moulds that are not made any longer but are sought after by a lot of shooters, so apparently they do work......

What is the thoughts on this?

THE KEITH 452423 250gr SWC BULLET WAS DESIGNED SPECIFICALLY FOR THE 45AUTORIM,

CARTRIDGE. It does not work all that well with the 45ACP cartridge unless you're running them through a 45ACP sixgun. See page 227, SIXGUNS BY KEITH. There is no 45ACP keith bullet per se'.

I had read where some guys were using that bullet successfully in their 1911's. That is why I asked, to see if anyone here had tried it. I use SWC's almost exclusively anymore, so I have no problem feeding them, and would like to experiment with the #452423, 240 gr SWC's.

I seem to remember reading in one of my Keith books where he mentions that he experimented with bullets up to 250 gr in a 1911. That being the case, and taking measurements from my .45 Colt Keith bullets, it appears that it is entirely possible to load the 240 gr Keiths in the .45 ACP and get them to function reliably.

If I were able to obtain some of those bullets, I would like to see if they will feed reliably in my gun, and if so, how they would perform in terminal ballistics.
