Savage Barrels
One question on Savage barrels.Since they are button rifled and according to a article in G&A there CEO said this barrel making procedure they use stress relives their barrels. I take it by all accounts I read this is a better way to make barrels and are they really stressed relieved? If so are they a little better quality and that is one reason they shoot so well out of the box?
Thanks roc1 |

Button rifling is an efficient and easier process than cut rifling to get a quality barrel
The button can either be pushed or pulled through the barrel. here is a good read of barrel rifling http://www.riflebarrels.com/articles...fle_barrel.htm Savage having the previous 5 World Long Distance Championship with their off the shelf button rifled product, I would say it is a good method.

Its like a pre-lapped barrel : D
My savage shot great out of the box. I have changed many many things on my 10/22 and AR15, but my savage....she got a good scope, base, and rings. A good cheek plate...and thats it : D Love my savage. I also love the middle of the winter when no one else is at the range

Lmao! The snow would just let the bi-pod sink through too deep, angling the gun downwards. I opened the case and laid the bi pod on the inside and it stood up nicely. Shooting in the snow is cool, I can build a spot for my elbow, a mound for the stock of the gun, its like the ground is build especially for my body to shoot I dried off the gun and let the case dry when I got home. P.S....you see the dark snow in front of the gun? I fired about 100 rounds that day, left a crater a few inches deep, about 3' wide and 4 or 5' long, The snow started to turn a little gray. Good times. Some of us live in NJ and aren't afraid of a little weather....We cant all be like TRGuy with the sunny days and green grass.

Lavid2002 - I don't really know much about NJ, never even drove through the State. What I have read recently and scene of the new Governor Chris Christie, he is kicking ass and putting it on the line. So something positive is going on there.
You are welcome to immigrate to SC, as for NC we have been infested with Socialist Liberal politicians and I think you might not notice a huge difference between us and NJ of 8 years ago.
