Mossberg 535
So, due to the ammo shortage, I've been holding off getting a new handgun or rifle and have opted to get a new shotgun. There's no shortage of shotgun ammo and it's the only thing I can find to shoot at a reasonable cost. So I went and bought a Savage 320 security model shotgun for less than $200 and have been shooting it fairly regularly. Well I've become more comfortable with a shotgun and would like to get something nicer. I saw a Mossberg 535 on the Gander Mountain site for about what I'm looking to spend. I plan to use it mostly for target shooting, home defense, and maybe try skeet shooting. It seems to have some good reviews on the website, but I wanted to check with the good folks of TFL and ask does anybody have any experience with this gun and is it worth the $500?

All you get with a 535 over the 500 is the ability shoot a few 3.5 shells... It is not built for heavy usage with the 3.5's, For that you need the beefier 835...
For what you described 3 inch would be plenty and you can do that with the 500 and save 250 bucks... You also get a one inch shorter action to cycle (1/2 inch each direction)... Brent |
