Nosler Custom 204 Lead Free 32Gr BT... Caution!
Please be aware!
I had mentioned that some time ago I had purchased a case of: Nosler Custom Lead Free 32Gr BT ammo. (#60089) (I got a bargain at the time) I had shot some of it in 3 rifles so far. Thompson Contender in 204 G2 Bull Ruger VBZ Varmit/Target in 204 Browning A-Bolt Varmit in 204 This ammo shot "OK" in the TC & Browning ... not in the Ruger! I decided I was going to load up some Sierra 39Gr BK in the 1x shot Nosler brass with CCI 400 & CFE223 for a test. After prepping brass and examining before beginning to load ... there was a noticeable "ring" around the moth of the cases about .010 from the top. I checked the brass for length and found virtually ALL of the cases appeared to be TOO LONG from the get go! I have read some threads about 204's mysteriously "blowing" up shooting factory ammo in the past. It would appear to me that this ammo may be faulty from the factory. The brass appears to be over spec and then some from the beginning. The factory Hornady 32gr Vmax (#83204) was just fine in all 3 rifles. Just a note to others .... any opinions here?
