does a 7mm dakota necked to 6.5mm exist?

If it can be done, it has been done. I have no idea what the .300 Dakota is, but the .264 Win Mag is reaching the limits of how much powder can be rammed though that size tube.

Past a certain point, all you are doing is making more noise and burning out your barrel faster.
