Beretta 390 at Wal-mart

Do any of you guys have one of these Beretta's that could comment on them or know anything about it?
I have read a few things about them over at Shotgun Report. Besides it being a no-frills version, is it the same quality gun.

Same frame and guts as a 390 field gun, but with a composite stock and a single Modified Beretta Mobilchoke.

A great buy on a dependable, soft shooting gun.

Thanks for the reply but the one I saw today had 3 chokes with it. And according to something I read it also had a chrome lined barrel.
What was/is the going price on a 390/391 field model Berreta with the synthetic stock (not wal-marts version)?
Any idea, Im curious how good of a deal this is?

'round here I would say ~$525.
that's about what I paid for my "sporting" 390 with walnut stock and 3 choke tubes and I consider it a bargain. HTH

A NIB "standard model" 391 sells for around $725, give or take $25 or so. That's the current Beretta auto offered.

As 390s are not a current model, you can occasionally find a field model with synthetic stocks and 3 chokes for $550 - $600, depending on locale. A local sporting goods chain where I live has them for $589, while the Walmart version here (only 1 choke) sells them for $529. Some stores sell a model called the 3901, which is a grey synthetic stocked 390 with the rounded sporting receiver that some rumor to be a general offering in response to the Walmart guns. They run in the $560 - $620 range around here.

BTW, chrome bores are a Beretta standard.

I went to a couple gun shops today and one had a used Beretta 390 with the walnut stock for $575.00 also there was a camo 390 with the 23" barrel for $400.00 (Turkey gun I imagine) the new 391's were between $875.00 and $1100.00.
Dick's Sporting Goods had the 391 with the walnut stock on sale for $795.00.
So from what I could tell around here $529.00 for a 390 with 3 choke tubes seems like a good deal.

Any of you all own a Walmart Beretta to comment on it?

P.S. I emailed Beretta asking them about this particular gun and this was their reply;
"Semi auto gas operated shotgun with excellent reliability, Similar to old 390 but minus the frills to meet Walmarts price point"

I got a WM Beretta 390 last summer. It came with 3 chokes and has a chrome lined barrel. No malfunctions of any kind, fired 4 rounds of trap with it right out of the box. You will need to add a recoil pad.

Highly recoomended!

Well I just came back from Wal-mart and put one on lay-away (Its gonna be a Christmas gift from my wife), it was the last 12ga. they had, if this shotgun wasn't logged in their book as a "Pump"

, it probably would have sold months ago.
They had a 20ga. on display and the stock on them has a removable section right before the but plate to make it shorter. I didn't like that at all.

Why do you recommend a recoil pad on this gun since their such soft shooters to begin with?
Also how do you clean these things? I have always shot a pump up till now?

A pad is nice if you're gonna shoot 100 rounds in a short time. I shot four rounds of trap and was a little sore the next day, but I'm a pretty big guy too. Plus if I want to let someone try for the first time I want to make the experience as comfortable as I can.

Could you elaberate on that a little more please? If I remember correctly when I hit that button after I cycled the bolt it caused the carrier to drop in the downward position instead of the half way point.
I would imagine you need to push the button on the carrier to be able to load it also.

I have shot my buddy's 11-87 and you have to cycle the rounds through the action to empty the mag.
