I found a couple good loads for 38 target
I loaded 15 rounds each of 231 powder at 3.8, 4.0, and 4.2. I also loaded 15 rounds each of bullseye at 3.0, 3.2 and 3.4. All using 357 mag cases with a 158 gr lswc bullets. Best groups were found at 4.0 of 231 and 3.2 of bullseye. I am not sure why 231 and bullseye powder both had the best groups. Shooting was done in a S&W model 19 with 4" barrel on the indoor range at 50 ft.
Does it sound right to you guys that two different powders both shoot very accurately ? Last edited by rebs; December 1, 2013 at 01:20 PM. |

231 and Bullseye both have long, solid reputations for being excellent target powders. They both ignite easily with low charges. I'm sure that has something to do with it.
