Confused about Shotgun Shells
I am trying to figure out what exactly is in a shell. For instanec 00 Buck shot? Is this 8, .30 caliber balls? Is there a chart somewhere that explains exactly what is in each shell from Slug all the way down to Dove Shot?

00 buck uses a 0.33 pellet and there are 8 per ounce. Depending on the shell there can be more or fewer pellets in a load.
The parts of a loaded shell are the primer, powder, wad, cushion, shot and cap. The cushion helps keep the shot from deforming and the cap helps keep the shot together in the barrel. |
