are jacketed bullet more accurate than lead at 50 yards in a redhawk 44 or is it just

i have jacketed bullet loads that shoot good at 25 yards and they also shoot good at 50 yards.when it comes to lead they shoot as good as the jacketed bullets at 25 yards but at 50 yards the jacketed are better by a long shot.you may have 4 or 5 good shots then one or two out of the group is it a bad bullet or what its not a problem with a jacketed bullet.im shooting a 60 round ppc type course,thanks in advance,keith

Perhaps try a different bullet and/or powder.

My 44 Redhawk likes both just fine.

My 7 1/2" Redhawk has a preference for hardcast lead.

factory jacketed have been the most aacurate,I tried Rainier
240s and shot wild 6 inch groups at 25 yards, 25 feet too,
bought some Beartooth hardcast 240 gr with 22 grains of H-110, this load has been very accurate, supprised me, I think
I crimped the Rainers too much, this is from a 71/2 RH.

You need to slug your chambers and barrel to determine the proper diameter cast bullets to use. You are just hit and miss otherwise.

Cast bullets MUST fit the chamber mouths snugly and be at least the same diameter of the groove diameter of the barrel or larger.

Generic sizing sometimes works and sometimes doesn't for an accurate cast bullet. Better to determine the diameter that your particular gun needs from the start.

Also many gas checked bullets will have the check run as much as .001 larger than the bullet sizing due to "spring-back" of the check after sizing.
