Dillon 550 case feeder?

Anyone heard anything about the case feeder that was shown at this year's SHOT show? Here's a pic of it

No, but I'm very interested.

I'm no big fan of the 650 (I especially dislike the primer system) but like the case feeder. I'd like to see more of this.

I just called Dillon.

YES ! They are making one. It will be available before the end of the year and retrofit to existing 550 and 550B's.

No hard cost figures are published, but the fellow I spoke with indicated $2-300 is what he's been told.

That's a lot of cash for a feeder, I will let someone else ginuea pig it first and see how it works, then probably pony up the cash and get one if initial reports are good.

Forgive the stupid question; How does one handle case lubeing with an autofeed?

I use Dillon spray lube. I let the cases dry overnight before putting them into the hopper (Most of the time

) but it's very easy to clean the case feeder. I clean mine regulatly whether or not it has been used with lubed cases.

$200-$300 is a bit steep for me.

Under $200 (even the $180 for the 650 style case-feeder) would seem to be more reasonable.

If you're going to spend $200-$300 for a casefeeder, why wouldn't you just get a 650??

If you buy a dillon press to load many calibers, buying a super 1050 would be very costly. Picture buying 9 deluxe quick change kits and 9 conversion kits for the 1050.

Even if you bought a 550 and loaded it down with every option available, you'd still spend less than $2000.
The 650 with 5 stations, would be over $3000 by the time you optioned it out with powder check system, 9 conversion kits, primer quick change system, etc.
I'm not even gonna mention the bullet feeder that's available for the 650!!!
That's a high dollar item.
I could buy 2 550s for the price difference, and never have to change the primer system, and do caliber changes only 1/2 as often.

Seriously, add up how much you spent on the guns you have right now.
Spend 10% of that on reloading stuff.
Never buy factory ammo again. Ever.
