1916 Spanish Mauser: 1896 scope mount?

I have a "1916" Spanish Mauser I would like to scope, and was wondering if a mount for the 1896 that replaces the rear sight would work on this 1893 pattern rifle.

I know there are differences between 1893 and 1896 Mausers, but did they change the rear sight? I've looked at B-Square and S & K mounts, but would rather try this one:

As much as I would like to say it would fit, I'm thinking it won't. If your 1916 Spanish Mauser is like mine, the swivel pin goes in the front and I don't see that feature in the picture shown on Sportsman's Guide. Sorry.
