M1 carbine
Congrats and enjoy shooting.
This was the first center fire rifle I learned on due to the good graces of a WW II vet back in the 60's.

That is a really nice one! I have one en route, coming in a few days. Hope it is that nice. Also an Inland.
See, it was worth the wait!

It's also worth noting that the bore is as clean an any other rifle I have.

The M1 Carbine with a few bandoleers of ammunition is my, 'Grab and run' firearm because of its light weight. That is a real nice looking carbine. I suspect you did not get it from the CMP for $375. It looks like someone spent some time refinishing the wood. What is the year stamped on the barrel ?

Leafy, now you see why I suggested you go GI.....you have a true piece of history and if you have an imagination will be able to place that Carbine at Iwo, Normandy, on occupation in Berlin or Fighting it's way out of the Chosin Resevoir. Yours is a post war rebuild to make it ready to serve it's Nation in future conflicts or give the current owner hours of pleasant entertainment. Now buy a copy of "War Baby" and the fun begins as you learn the Carbine from it's inception to the end of WWII.
