Winchester 1897 Dilemma
Hello, everyone!
I bought a ratted out Winchester 1897 to make into a trench gun repro. I'm pleased with the outcome of my project, but I'm having an issue with the gun. When I try to cycle the action, the carrier seems to hang up on the face of the shell in the mag tube. If I press the round forward slightly in the tube, the gun cycles fine. Have any of you seen this issue? I can't decide if the mag tube is sitting out of position, or if the carrier is slightly too long to accommodate the shells...any suggestions? Here's a photo for your viewing pleasure! |

Try going to the CAS site. The '97 is fairly popular with Cowboy Shooters and there are a bunch of gunsmiths that work on'm.

Thanks! I'll try over there. By the way, I see you're in Poteet...I'm in Garland!
