shot pattern
I have a 12 ga. benelli SBE II, its a great gun in the field and is very easy to use. However when I go to the sportsmans club for card shooting I shot donuts,
I've patterned the gun several times with different choke's, from a standard full to a 640, the pattern is tight at 30 yards except for a 6-8 inch hole in the center with very few hits. Any ideas??? |

Try a different brand of ammo. Some have better wads than others.

I have to agree with Doyal. try a differant type of ammo with it. I have shot the Benelli Military M1014 and didn't have any Issues with it at all. you might try the factory choke(s) with it as well. Since they are made for it.

What velocity loads are you using? I know competitors who go to lower velocity loads when they want more center-dense patterns. Typically, shooters what uniform patterns; but, IINM, card shooters want center dense patterns.

Very hot loads through very tight chokes MAY lead to "blown" patterns - or the doughnut hole effect you mentioned. Try a different choke, slower ammo if using uber-fast loads and see how they perform for you in your gun

I've tried the different ammo and that helps, but the ammo is supplied by the club and its the cheapest stuff they can buy.

Ah… now I understand -- you're shooting cards with the club's ammo. If you're going to get into the shooting games, perhaps you should try the ones that are based on skill and not chance.

Sounds like it's overchoked to me.
