Anyone using or used Olin WC852 powder?
Has anyone out there used Olin WC852 surplus powder for .308win, or .300WinMag?The re-packaged powder is marked as"Olin WC852(H-450 type)".I know that this is the slower lot of powder.I have load data for H-450, but I'm just trying to find out all the info I can before trying to load this powder(Got a GOOD deal on a 8 lbs. keg).Thanks. Skullboy.

I use Jeff Bartlett's 852, the "slow" lot. I think that is the one you are referencing. I have found it to be between 4350 and 4831. A good powder.

I, too, bought an eight pounder...
I use it in several centerfire rifles, .30-06 Improved, 6.5 Swede, and .308 Win.
It's in the 4831/H450/H414 range... check a couple load manuals, start low.....

Actually There Is A Wc852f-like H380
A Wc852m- Like H414 And A Wc852s - Like H450/h4831 Sometimes Changes Charateristics As You Change The Case. The 852s You Have Will Work Really Well With Large Bullets In 30-06 Case Sizes Up. I Have Used It In 6.5'06/8'06/8'06 Imp/270/280/30'06/300handh/300 Win Mag With Excelent Results. But Start Low And Work It Up. Can Build Pressure Fast. Hope This Helps. Roddoger |
