Uberti Cattleman 1873 .357 Mag or 45 LC

Well, I got it stuck in my head that I would like to pickup an Uberti Cattleman in either .357 Magnum or 45 LC.

I handload for a bunch of different calibers already and have been thinking about scaling them back a bit since keeping a whole lot of different components around is a hassle.

I already load for .38 special and have brass and bullets up the wazoo for that caliber but nothing at all for 45 LC.

I may decide to pickup a lever action in whatever caliber I choose later down the road but thought I would run it by the hive mind for input.

I have a Pietta New Army in .44 caliber already and have a riot shooting it so I am siding more on the 45 LC side even though I have to outfit myself to load it.

What would you recommend and why?

Of course you should have both calibers in SAs but I prefer adjustable sights for 357 so I got Blackhawks, I load one load for 45 Colts so I don't mind fixed.

I have the Cattleman in 44spec and it is a great little gun. Of the 2 you posted, I would opt for the 45colt...but that is just me.

I'd personally go with the .45 Colt...they're less punishing to the shooter and use a large, effective projectile that really gets the job done.

.45 Colt. .357 in a SAA clone is just sacrilege, IMO.

But hey, I have a 9mm 1911.....
