XD-40 case dings
I just bought an XD-40 3" that I would like to hand load for. I ran about 70 rounds through it today, and every one of them has a small ding or dent approx 3-4mm from the case neck. Any
other XD-40 owners getting these? Any issues with reloading? I'm new to reloading and a little apprehensive about it. Thanks, JD |

I don't do 40 but I do lots of .45ACP. If they size ok you should be good to go.

I don't have a 40 but my XD9 leaves no dings. Don't know if that info will help you at all!

The dings in the cases may go away after the pistol is broken in.

Is it just a small dent or an actual scratch or cut? If its a dent, I don't know what is denting them, but I would not worry about it. The sizing process should remove the dent.

I have a XD .45 tactical that dinged the case real bad. But after 200 rounds or so it stopped dinging the cases. Never did find out what caused it. It did not just stop at once. The dinging got lighter with each 50 rounds till it finally stopped.
My XD-SC never did ding the brass in the 9mm or .40S&W. Get more rounds thru it, and it should be OK. |

nope no dings in my 45 brass. I have seen this in others. As other have indicated a break in period my be required. I could be your slide is a bit tighter or your recoil assembly is stronger or the extractor is a bit rough. It might be a combination of these things.

I'm with the poster who said not to give it too much worry at this point because your reloading dies will likely take the ding right out of the case.
Hope it clears up for you.

I have the XD40. I get those on some cases. Look them over well after cleaning if its just a ding it's cool. I have reloaded 3 times with my current brass & resizing seems to take them out.
