Win 64 gr PP in AR-15

Hi everyone,

I went to the town next door and picked up 400 bullets for reloading. Lucky for me, they had a sale!

I went on-line to find some good powder loads, but this bullet weight doesn't seem popular in 223 but rather the 223 WSSM.

I have a Colt AR15 HBar (1:7 twist). Whay are your favorite loads for this bullet weight?

Many thanks in advance !!!

I've shot them in a 1/7 20" AR. I have used both surplus 844 and Win 748 powder. WC844 at 24.2-24.5 got me to approx. 2900fps and I loaded Win748 powder at 24.5 grains. Winchester data (available on Hodgdons web site) shows 25 grains of Win 748 as the only load and velocity was 2970fps. Win's overall length of the loaded round was listed at 2.120" but my early production 64PP's have a cannelure and I seated mine longer so the cannelure was at the case mouth. 2.120" is pretty short! My early production 64pp's varied in weight from near 63 grains to almost 65 grains. Sorting them by weight tightened groups. The above loads showed no signs of pressure in my rifle.
