Ghost ring sights for a benelli supernova?

So I've been pondering putting some ghost ring sights on my benelli supernova. Its a 28" barrel with just the bead sight on there. Anyone had any experience with this?

Think a gunsmith could do it?

Question is: Why?
Those are rifle sights.

The Gunsite 870's had ghost ring sites for shooting slugs. A friend of mine who went through their defensive shotgun class used an 1100 equipped with them. He let me take a number of walking headshots on targets with it one afternoon. Worked great. Very fast target acquisition and unexpected accuracy.

I don't know how that would do chasing clays with 8½ shot, but can't see why it wouldn't work. The set I bought from Brownells was heavy, and might affect swing a bit on a goose gun barrel, but on an 18" domestic defense shotgun, it's fine.

I want a slug gun, pretty much. just wondering how much it would cost to do the mod to an existing barrel or if I should just find another gun. most everybody seems to praise the ghost rings on a shotty using slugs.

You pretty much have to choose the sights first. The prices vary substantially. You can pay $160 for a Remington conversion with tritium front sight for low light, and that's before the gunsmith charges you to put them on.

After you choose the sights, look for the gunsmith. It does require drilling and tapping receivers for the rear site in most instances, then there is attaching the front sight. How much these cost will depend where you are and what attachment methods have to be employed. I'd guess anywhere from $50 to $100. More if the sights have to be soldered on and the gun re-blued afterward.

Ghost rings on a pump supernova help with quick acquisition of moving targets. It is cheaper if you order it with the shot gun than adding it after market. I ordered mine with the shotgun for skeet shooting, I may buy a rifle barrel but not sure I want to go that route since it's as expensive as buying a rifle by itself.

hmmm, thats good to know man. Well, thats out of the question so its back to the drawing board. If only benelli sold barrels for these damn things.
