Sounds like "common sense" that Bloomburg would do this. Let's see how the candidates he supports actually do in the poles.

"Every day 86 Americans die by gunfire."
That right there, is a key. No mention of how many are accidents, how many are suicides, how many are justified self defense, how many are police shootings, or how many are actual criminal acts. Nothing but how many bodies are caused by "gunfire". Deliberate focus on only one thing, deaths from gunfire. How can people so rich be so stupid? (rhetorical question)

Why would any candidate feel obligated to respond to a questionaire from Bloomberg or his minions?

I just took the poll. I'm ok with banning semi automatics, so long as we get our full automatics back from Hughes. Semi autos are a waste of ammo (because the same round could be used in a full auto, which is so much more fun).
Bolt actions are just way too slow. Ban those, too. I would like my G36 now, please.

I think Bloomberg's questionnaire is very reasonable. He is basically asking politicians what the NRA does already, but on the flip side. We may not like it or agree with it, but he is well within his right to do so.

The survey is here [pdf].
Here are the questions: Quote:
Of course, that's not "doing more." "Doing more" means doing everything Bloomberg's (and only Bloomberg's) way. Quote:
Incidentally, the situation is not a loophole. Advocates of the Brady Act knew it would never pass if it mandated checks on private sales, and they agreed to it. That's not a loophole. Quote:
Nobody wants a wife-beating cretin to own guns, but existing law goes too far and serves as a poor model for future legislation. Quote:

Now, is this going to really do much to counteract similar efforts from the NRA? No. Many politicians care about their NRA grade. It can make or break a campaign in some quarters. Bloomberg's endorsement? It's not so valuable. The people who covet his approval already have it, and those who don't aren't going to be cowed by him. Let him spend his money this way. Perhaps a few disappointments will convince him to spend it on something else.

The survey begins with two lies- non-partisan and grass-roots.

Here's the link to the Indiana story. According to the story, the guy had close to 1000 guns not recorded or accounted for, sold guns to prohibited persons, did strawmans etc. Sounds like this bozo got what he deserved. Last edited by gyvel; July 12, 2014 at 05:46 PM. |

Yup, the article does should like the gun store in Idiana was way out of compliance. Not sure how that plays into Bloombergs 'wants' since the owner is being prosecuted.

I'm not at all surprised that bloomie is throwing this at his "compatriots". I'll continue to be making calls and sending letters to my state reps. Hopefully enough of them will make them think twice about supporting his cause. Though the cynical side of me sometimes thinks those in power are just going to flip us the bird and do whatever the heck they want.
Try to think positive right? At least a while back, we had those reps get ousted due to the people being unhappy with them. Now if only we could get more states to do that with politicians that they didn't think were representing them. |
