My deer slug gun is a Mossberg and it kicks bad.

For upland game, I hunt with a side by side in 16 gauge.

Thank's Dave, I will check it out. In the meantime, I was looking at a Maverick 88. Do you know anything about them good or would i be wasting more money. I'm on a broke income but maybe i should save pennies until i can afford something better. Any suggestions please? I have a few great handguns but won"t sell any of them to buy a in my opinion much needed shotgun. Thank"s again. E,T, S. Ms.

Maverick= Mexican Mossberg. A durable, reliable shotgun that lacks little except a high price tag.

There's a crossbolt safety instead of the tang one on the 500,etc, but most parts interchange.

I like 870s best, but the Mossberg family is in my Top Ten.

I just love the classic looks and the bottom ejection is mighty handy in a duck blind. However, I passed on a Browning BPS 2 years ago that was pristine and in my LGS' yearly clearance sale for $250....still kicking myself.

I've been lucky enough to shoot 870 Wingmasters and Express', Ithica 37's, BPS's and Mossberg's. The Ithica was the lightest and smoothest but I preferred the Wingmaster. It was just a better balanced gun for me.

How about a pair of Winchester 1897s? Really just because they were my grandpa's and great grandpa's guns. But they still bust clays! My wife shoots the one on the right and I shoot the one on the left. A hundred years old and still going! (The guns, not my wife.)

I went looking for a tactical shotgun, to use for HD. However, everything with the word "tactical" cost another $100 or more.

Then one day I was in my LGS and spotted a Mossberg 500 Turkey Special, in 12 gauge. It has everything that I was looking for in a HD shotgun, plus it doubles as a coyote/turkey shotgun...with the correct choke tube.

* 3" chamber
* full camo = no maintenance ie. rust.
* duel slide rails for the pump action = very smooth
* 5 rd. magazine
* 20" barrel...very nice for CQB, indoors or outdoors.

* Pacmyar Magnum recoil pad.

I received a call from the police yesterday morning, they informed me that my Model 12 has been recovered! He said it would take up to a week before I could claim it...I also wonder what condition it will be in after 4 years?

Winchester Model 12, with 28" barrel and fixed Mod Chock. Why, because it was with this gun that I got my first "100" in skeet, and later my first "100" in Trap...

I've got an 870 Wingmaster in 20 ga which is a superior bird gun. Also an 870 Express tactical. Love them both. When I was a young teenager I had a Mossberg 12 ga mag with a 30" full choke barrel and although it weighed a ton I still carried it everywhere I went and used it on waterfowl and upland game. The Mossberg 500 still has a place in my heart too.
