30/06 to .308 Die Question

Hey guys, I have been reloading 30/06 for a little while now and I have just bought a Remington 700 SPS Tactical in .308. I have the LEE deluxe rifle dies for the 30/06 and just normal LEE pacesetter dies for the .308

My question is, can I use the bullet seating die that came with the 30/06 for the .308? The deluxe Rifle die set in 30/06 came with some 'special' bullet seating die. I also have the bullet seating die for .308 so its not biggie. I just thought since they use a .308 projectile it might be able to work.

Antihero47, I have RCBS a competition seating die, to spread my money as far as possible, I use the one seating die for 30/06, 8/06 and 8X57 by changing parts in the seating die, I gain the 308 Winchester by adding an extended shell holder, the seating die is too long for the short 308W, the seating die cost about $65.00, the shell holder was/is $8.00 + or -.

We spend a lot of time talking about run out and the cause, keeping the ram centered is important, allowing the shell holder to float to find center would help but using a seating die for one caliber to seat another caliber requires care. Wildcats as with the 7MM that use the 30/06 case can be seated with the 7MM Remington Mag seating die, but, everything has to be perfect, the 7MM Remington Mag centers when seating (counter bore in base of die), the 30/06 case will float by .020 in all directions at the base because of the difference in case diameter.

Could be no concern but the 308W is .011 larger in diameter when measured from the head of the case to the shoulder.
