I have ben using hp38 in light loads for cowboy action shooting with good results, loading to about 900 fps. I want to load some 125 grain jhp in 357 cases to about 1300 to 1400 fps,and the data supports using either hp38 or tight group. Which would you suggest ? thanks for info. Jeff

From the Hodgdon reloading manual.

This Is Max Load

357Mag 125Gr JHP Max is HP-35 8.5Gr Vel=1514@ 42,700 CUP 1.590 OAL. Using HDY XTP Bullet

357Mag 125Gr JHP Max is Tightgroup 7.5Gr Vel=1497@ 41.200 CUP. 1.590 OAL. Using HDY XTP Bullet

A slower powder would be Recommended.

Best Tony

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

HIGHLY RECOMMEND 'slower' powder for top-end loads in 357 (can you spell throat erosion?), like H110, AA9, N110, Blue Dot (yuk!), 2400, and of course, W296.
