New at reloading... quick question

Just got done reloading some 9mm rounds and I can run through about five rounds and I get a jam the nose of the bullet catches on the feed ramp.
Would this mean they are to long? I have a Lee manual and I'm in between min. and max length.If anyone could help me out I would appreciate it.

There 147 grain round nose from berry's.
Don't have the exact length right now I left my dial calipers at my buddys.
They shot fine out of a friends hi-point rifle, out of my mp9 and ruger p95, jams every couple of rounds.
plated bullets not lead.

I would think that a RN bullet would be okay. As long as your rounds don't hang up in the magazine I would think you would be okay.

1.) Do you have a good/strong/new magazine? - Try a different Mag

2.) You might need to polish up the feed ramp just a little.

3.) Got a good crimp?

4.)You might up your charge just a bit, within your manuals tolerences of course.

Need more info to help any further:

New Gun? What kind?
Do yo have other magazines?
Load data?
Do factory loads run okay?

I don't know if this will make any sense to you but what I have found was that the front of the top edge of the clip has to be opened slightly. This allows the round to sit at a steeper angle and will chamber better.
But it might be something else. Just my .02 cents

Before you do any modification to the weapon, you first adjust the ammo. I think you are on the right track, that it needs to be shortened.

Try loading 10 each of three or four slightly shorter OAL's. If these fail to improve performance, try rwt101's suggestion.

If a shorter OAL or the magaxine adjustments do not stop the malfunction, look at the ramp.

Had this problem years ago with a Para .40cal. The loads were below major power. I loaded longer and lightened the recoil spring to a 16#. Changed the timing. Double stacks can be finicky.Clean the mag spring follower and the inside of the mag with a green scotchbright pad.

Do your firearms feed reliably with factory ammo or another load? If so compare the loaded length and bullet profile and try to match it with your load.

Shoney gave an excellent suggestion. Modifying the magazine or feed ramp may be necessary, but if other ammo feeds well try adjusting the load first.
