Browning B25 O/U

Browning BPS (Variety of Barrels: HD, smooth and rifled slug, MC barrel of preferred length)

Either a Browning Maxus or Beretta A400 in the model and barrel configurations to suit you as with the BPS

(PS I hope budget wasn't a restriction, we can but dream!)

.

Since the days when I once preferred mega-blasters long gone, I now prefer very lightweight shotguns:

A 28ga and/or 20 ga SxS ( I have an Ithaca Flues & a Stevens 311)

A .410 and/or 20ga autoloader (I have a Remington 11-48 & a Franchi 48AL)

A 20ga pumpgun (I have an Ithaca M37 Deerslayer)

.

Re: 3 MUST HAVE shotguns?

In no way is this a list for anyone other than myself:

#1) Belgium Browning Auto-5 Sweet 16(Just happen to have a 1957 model choked modified)
#2) Browning Superposed Lightning choked Mod/Mod(Still in search of this)
#3) Beretta 3901 20ga(Made in Italy, just happen to have 3 of these)

There are lots of choices today, but there just isn't any current models I see as a must have. I probably should have a pump on my list and if I did it would be a Remington 870 Wingmaster 20ga with a I/C choke.

When you let me have a fourth I will go for an Ithaca 37 Deerslayer.

Cowboy - go to www.gunsinternational.com and peruse the Browning Superposed section; find one you like with M/F and have a good smith open the F to M for you
(or have Briley install their thin wall choke tubes)

I'll start with the two I have, a scoped 870 for deer and my Winchester 1300 with 22" and 28" WinChoke barrels. That's where my must haves stops. The only additional one that holds my attention at the gun counter is a 12ga. coach gun.

Well, for trap I use a Maverick 88 with a 26" bbl.
For hunting, I use a Maverick 88 with a 26" bbl.
And for HD, I use a Maverick 88 with an 18.5" bbl.
That's my MUST HAVE list. My WANT list is quite different.

Funny that you said three shotguns because I have dozens of handguns and dozens of rifles but only three shotguns :

1) Remington 870, extended magazine, 6-round sidesaddle

2) Saiga-12, Pistol grip, folding stock, Shark brake permanently attached for total barrel length of just over 18 inches with a number of 10 round magazines and 20 round drums.

3) Replica of a Colt 1878 double barrel with exposed hammers.

These three pretty much cover my interest in shotguns.

I am hard pressed to come up with another shotgun I need to own - but I suppose I would buy a Browning A5 if I found one at a nice price.

How about:

1. a nice O/U (my preference would be my 12 ga Beretta 685 because it is light and a great field gun)

2. A classic SxS (maybe my Remington 1900 in 16 ga or my Remington 1894 CEO)

3. A nice 12 ga Semi-Auto (either something tactical like my Beretta FP1201 or one for waterfowling like my Beretta AL390)

Just picked from guns I already own.

1. New England .410
2. 870 wingmaster 20ga
3. Benelli Cordoba 12ga

Pretty much covers all your needs and wants. If you can't get it done with one of these you need more practice.
