Bummed at the range...

Finally found time to try some loads and could not get my Pact XM1 to read. It's been very reliable; maybe the light was wrong. I did get one reading of 2,812 fps with the 7mm shooting 175 gr Speer MagTips over 76 gr of some old H870 I had. No read at all on 77 gr load (78 is listed max). Good news was they grouped very well. I was really looking forward to seeing what kind of velocity I could get out of my 2 1/2" Model 66, but no go. Tried 18 and 19 gr H110 with 125 gr Hornady XTPs. Empties dropped right out, but I have no idea of velocity. Anyone else shooting a similar load? I'm wondering if the slow powder is a waste of time in the short barrel.
