Colt Shotgun
Hi, we have a Colt Shotgun and I've heard they are pretty rare. I didn't know Colt made shotguns. I knew they made rifles and such and specialized on handguns. Also, this gun was not made by Franchi. I'll try to get a picture of it but we can't find any info at all on it! any help would be greatly appreciated! Here are some pictures of it

According to my records, the frame was made by Franchi but NOT marked as such.
It was assembled and finished by Jefferson Arms, also by Kodiak and Montgomery Wards. There were about 2000 made from 1961 to 1965. As a primary handgun maker, Colt usually had it's long guns made by other makers, and marked with Colt info, or in some cases assembled and finished guns made by other makers. Colt only sold three models of shotguns after the Model 1883 double gun. From 1961 to 1965 Colt sold about 25 to 50 double guns made by a French company named Fabrication Mechanique. A standard and a deluxe semi auto shotgun made by Franchi , and the Coltsman Pump gun with the Franchi receiver as above. |
