.357 Sig ammo brands

I am new to shooting this caliber. Any suggestions on brand choices? Any I should stay away from? And lastly, is there any noticeable difference between the 100 gr and the 125 gr? I am going to order online in bulk to keep my shipping cost down and none of the local stores have any in stock.

Handgun brand and model please?? I am a fan of speer bullets . They have killed a few deer for me with there bonded unicorn hp. Just a heavier GD . Underwood ammo has several great loades. They have the speer bonded unicorn bullet hornady's XTP and the other listing for a hp is noslers hp. Good bullet too. They also offer the Barne's TAC-XP

My cc ammo is there 40sw 155gr speer bonded at 1300fps but have shoot a box of the xtp. Also 9mm 124gr speer bonded also.

I asked about handgun as You might not want to shoot this ammo in a gen 2 or 3 glock. Chamber issues. but glock guys can tell you about any 357sig issues.

I shoot a kahr. Tight chambered and full chamber.

I recently purchased a used Sig 2340. The barrel is brand spanking new as the gun only came with the .40 barrel.

I've only ever used or seen 125 gr ammo. Some of the online shops have frangible 100 gr ammo, and even 140 gr FMJ, but I've never used those. Otherwise, I buy whatever FMJ is available and cheap for my P226.

Home defense and sometimes range, I'll use Remington or Speer Gold Dot JHP.

I bought a box of Winchester Ranger 125 gr hp that a shop had. The guy told me it was his only 357 Sig ammo he had. So I guess I'm just looking for some range ammo thats reliable yet won't break me. I see some ammo companies out there that I am not familiar with and wondered if I should stay away from them.

Speer Gold Dot and Federal Premium work well for me. I'd stay with 125's. The whole point of this round is to drive a 125 bullet as fast as a 125 from a 4" .357 Mag (it doesn't quite make it, but it's close enough for government work).

icedog You can shoot the hotter 357 ammo out there so find . Bulk ammo try Georgia arms . There bulk canned heat has always been good quality safe reloads.

Nc, $165 for 500 rds? Sounds like a pretty good deal. Never heard of canned heat before but for range rds, that might be the way to go. Anybody else out there use these before?

I've used canned heat for a couple years now. They are rated at 1300 fps out of a 4" barrel. Excellent round, very accurate, and like all 357 SIG....very loud.
For self defense rounds, Georgia Arms 125 gr Speer GDHP, is super! Rated at 1400 fps.
I've also bought from SGAmmo and Lucky Gunner. These are also very reputable companies.
I love this round, and use the G32 and G33 all in Gen 4 flavor.

The 125 Gold Dot is likely the most issued round for LE. I think you would be well served.

I've shot it for years. Very consistent.

Well, I ordered the canned heat on Monday, it's here today! Hopefully I can get to the range this weekend to put some to paper! Thanks for all the input and suggestions.

icedog88, if you want the real deal 357SIG, buy Underwood brand 125gr 357SIG, out of a 4" bbl, it's 1475fps.

I have a FNX 40 and finally got a 357 Sig barrel for it last week.

Took 50 rds of Underwood 124 gr JHP to the range and out of the first 28 rounds in the new barrel I had 8 light primer strikes.

Swapped back to 40 and the gun fired flawlessly with 28 rounds.

Went back to the 357 barrel and had 1 mis fire on the unshot rounds remaining out of the 50. Re-shot the previous unfired rounds and they fired with no problem.

Got 200 rds of Parabellum Research 125 gr FMJ.....and purchased a USED FNS 40 (my first striker gun) and went back to the range the next day.

Not a single failure in the 200 rds of 257 Sig in both weapons and also alternated another 100 rds of .40.

Gotta get more 357 sig ammo now.

The 357 seems to be a bit more accurate than the 40, and the noise is not much to me.

Now, I am also in search of more 357 Sig ammo. Totally enjoy that caliber.
