ruger m77 laminate stock question
Hi,
I sanded out part of the barrel channel on my ruger m77 laminate stock and I was wondering if you guys could recommend a good finish to put in the barrel channel like laquer or stain or any other procedures that I should do to make the stock waterproof again? I appreciate any advice. As a side note the gun went from about 2 inch groups at 100 yards to about 5/8" groups just sanding down the front part of the barrel channel to make the barrel fully free floating. |

Spar varnish
Most any hardware supply should have a spar varnish. It might say spar urethane. I use it on barrel channels occasionally. I prefer to use Arrow's wood finish since it is a sealer, filler, and waterproof oil finish and I use it on the rest of the stock as well.
