I like it.
Good balance between a service load, a thin grip, and Sig quality. Have to keep an eye out for one.

Old news...
There are a few older forum posts about SIG's new duty size "Classic" .45acp pistol. It's a smart move on SIG's part. Pre-Sandy Hook, a 14/15 shot .45acp would have been a good idea. Now in 2013, the 10rd .45acp may be the only pistol mags available to the US public.
I'd like to see a P227 up close(but not pointed at me, ). What's next? A slim line Glock in 9x19mm like a 36? Hint-hint. |

I'm jealous -___- I want it. My SIG 220 is growling.

The P220 is going to be in the forgetten SIG bin with the P225.

Ah but but but....
I'm not so sure.
The SIG Sauer "Classic" line is very popular worldwide & the P250 "modular" system didn't win any blue ribbons with US gun buyers & sworn LE. The P220R .45acp & the SAO format pistol(s) will be on the market for a long time to come, IMO. CF |

...so the best they could do with the P220 form factor is 2 extra bullets?
Really? The P220 extended mag already holds 10. Hell, a Glock 30 (which is a tiny gun) holds 10. This is VERY underwhelming. |

Remember that it is easier to fit "x" number of .45 rounds into a polymer pistol than into a metal-with-grip panels pistol, if you keep the outside dimensions the same. So the Glock 30 is smaller but holds 10 also.
Apples, oranges, you know the saying. I am not too keen on the aluminum frame SIG in .45. With the slightly higher bore, it recoils up too much for my taste. I haven't had the fun of firing the all steel SIG 220. I'd probably like it quite a bit. Bart Noir

The weight and feel of a steel P220 is considerable compared to an aluminum frame model.
It's the closest to a 1911 without being a 1911, especially with a SAO/safety combination. |
