Boxlock longevity

Hello, I am pretty new to shotguns. I recently got a Remington/Baikal SPR220/IZH-43 and was wondering how long the action will stay tight. No competition shooting here just the occassional range trip or fun outing. It is tight right now but if it got loose would it still be safe to use? Also isn't the Anson and Deeley boxlock one of the stronger actions for shotguns? Thanks.

As to how long your gun will last, IMO, Turkish and Russian guns are usually not as well made as Spanish or Italian. For occasional use, it will probably be just fine.

How many shells? 500,1000,10000?

Probably a couple of tens of thousands before you need to have work done. When breakopen guns get loose they can be repaired through new trunnions or a hingepin bushing (depending on the design) for moderate cost from an experienced gunsmith. At that point your gun should lock up like new. An easy way to tell when the gun is needing repair is to look at the locking lever. A gun with good lockup's lever will be right of the centerline of the gun when the action is closed. When the lever moves left of the centerline the gun needs repair.
