Browning Buck Mark... Which model is this?
Can you tell me what model this is? Cant really find one online. It is used and I think I going to grab it tomorrow if it seems fair. Asking price is $339.00. I shop there a lot so I may be able to get it for a little less. Uploaded with ImageShack.us

I think that's one of the URX line. If it's in really good condition, that's a very fair price. I'd jump on it. I waited three years for my Hunter model to come in.

Can't tell from the picture, does the grip have finger grooves?
If not then it is a 5.5 Target. I have the exact same thing, bought in 1993. The serial number on the one in the picture puts it manufactured in 2005. Last edited by TJx; December 7, 2012 at 06:36 AM. |

Not sure if it has groves like in the link above, or just that one for the top of the palm of the hand. Going to fondle it today.

Swap out the Rosewood grips on my Buckmark Plus for the ones on that one in the picture and it's a dead ringer.

That really looks like the wider (front to back ) original grip frame which they don't make anymore as far as combining the slab side barrel and that grip frame.
To get that frame you have to buy the bull barrel camper base model. To get the slab side barrel you have to buy either the URX or UDX. The URX has a narrower grip frame and the grooves are part of the grip and unless there are aftermarket options, you are pretty limited to the factory grips. They do feel comfortable though. The slab side UDX has the grooves built into frame. I have both the original frame and UDX and can't really say which I like better. That one in the picture will have the "updated" recoil spring assembly which came about around 2000-01 and I really don't like because it's quite a bit more of a pain to take slide off but isn't a deal breaker. Look for firing pin peening from dry firing on the top of the breech face. If it's indented and more than cosmetic, I would pass. |

I can't really see the grip, but prior to the UDX grip, that model was called the "Buckmark Standard". As said previously it is the same as the "Buckmark Plus" without the rosewood grips.

IIRC, wasn't the Buckmark Standard available to any dealer and the Buckmark Plus only sold through certain dealers? I seem to remember the dealer telling me that back when I bought my Plus. I do remember the dealer telling me the Plus wasn't such a hot idea to buy since it was overpriced for what you got. |

The firing pin is a pc of flat bar stock and it's located in the slide. The pic you show is the early model it had black grips; I had mine since 1985 and have had some 20,000 round through it. it has a plastic buffer ($1.65) that needs to be replaced every 5000 rounds and I cracked my firing pin once ($2.00) and took 5 mins to replace
Just for the record I paid $165.00 new in the box, best money I ever spent |

That is one fun gun and you can get parts through the browning Webb site if needed. They have a total break down and a parts list. Just make sure if you have the old model or the new one when ordering

Here she is. 99.9% mint condition. Case, extra mag, papers, everything. Has serial num 515MV*****. I am assuming the MV means 2005 according to this site: http://www.browning.com/customerserv...tail.asp?id=29 Is that true?
Uploaded with ImageShack.us This one is getting wrapped and addressed to the family (me and the kids) from Santa! They will be thrilled! Last edited by baddarryl; December 8, 2012 at 12:05 AM. |

Another question: Is there anyway to de cock these without dry firing since there is no external hammer? Can I hold the trigger back while racking the slide like on other guns?

I'll go out on a limb and say they will swap out.
I don't think you can buy just the medallion grips alone though. There's other really nice looking wood grips out there though for the Buckmark. It is a pretty little bugger I have to admit. I bought it in 1999 at Christmas time. Next year when my grandson turns 13, he'll get to try it out for the first time. P.S. - in answer to your question, no. The trigger has a disconnect (so it won't go full auto) so you can't ride the slide down. I just tired it on the Plus.....that's the first time the trigger has been pulled on it - other than the factory test fire, BTW. |
