Miss Devine
Traded in some useless detritus and about $700 for this---
I like Miss D. so much I just leave her out in the living room to look at--- I don't quite understand the legitimacy arguments surrounding the Devine M1As---and the threads discussing this are so acrid and stupidly vile, I very likely will never chop through the undergrowth to that understanding. Low serial number, all USGI parts--- And part of the barrel mark--- The stock has two copper plates at the trigger assembly contact points and she is in there tight. The back of the receiver does not bear on the wood at all---which could be a problem, I suppose. She did OK at the test firing, but that was only 50 rounds. -----krinko |

That IS what I was expecting when I read the title but I was cautiously doubtful. Very nice! Jealous

Congrats on snagging a Devine. It's a mystery to me why they are so desireable but there is a tremendous cult following to have one from the original Texas builder. All USGI is certainly a plus too. Would love to handle one to see the difference in the action. Bet she's smooth as butter.

The Devines are nice with all the GI parts, but the receiver still had design changes needed. My holy grail is the 042201 to 063000 range from SAI. This is the serial number range is the Golden Age of the M1A. The receiver design had fully matured by this time. SAI had a large cashe of USGI parts and hand assembled fine rifles. Of all the upstart M14 makers, Elmer's is the best by far, after all it went on to be the M1A we know today. |

The big fuss seems to be about what was made from Texas parts by SA after the company was purchased and move to Illinois. Also anything that is desirable and people are willing to pay money for will be faked.
