Protective Helmets???

Most SWAT and other assault and entry teams wear them but how good are they? The military PASGT and the shorter Mitch version GI-style helmets are supposed to be Level-IIIA rated, and, because of their contour, I would suspect that commonly used handgun ammo would fail to penetrate them sufficiently enough to cause serious head injury.

Can anyone share the details of an AUTHENICATED case in which one of these helmets worn by an officer was pierced by a round fired from a handgun?
