Disassembly of my 1841 "Mississippi" Rifle
Hello all,
My wife and I are in the process of moving to Maine and consequently I have not been able to attend to my reproduction rifle. All that I've done is to run a brush and oiled patch through the bore to stop the minor rusting that I found. Now it is time to take the rifle down to thoroughly inspect and clean it. Other than to use the proper sized tools? Do you have any useful hints or warnings? Is there a proper sequence for removing the barrel. etc. All help is appreciated. Thanks, DJ |

Don't remove the lock screws and try to pry the lock out of its mortise. Instead loosen the screws and bump the screw heads to push the lock out.
