Antique Powder Horn. Is it real?
This is on Ebay. Do you guys think it is really that old or a fake?

Methinks it's old but not that old. I think if it had been in a barn for very many years it would be more bug eaten and mouse gnawed. Re-enactors and horn makers routinely carve dates, etc in horns to give a more realistic look to their portrayal. The fact that nobody's bidding on it ought to tell you something. Real antique horns and good fakes usually bring over 100 bucks even for not so good specimens.

I don't think it's real either.

The metal ring on the big end looks rather new. Most old ones I have seen use brass or iron square nails, not round head tacks.

Umm... I don't think they would apreciate if I said what i think is scratched in(or what someone attempted to scratch out) to the side, but any way you look at it; I wouldn't take that as a gift:barf:

You really have to be careful about buying on e-bay. A lot of people lie to make big bucks on items. I have been burned on a few items on e-bay. Just my 2 cents.
