Been thinking about getting my CHL here in Texas. What are the requirements? Restrictions?

Have to take a certified course....and pass it. Then submit your papers and $$$.

For Texas CHL
Check this forum -
www.texaschlforum.com Some of the requirements are classroom time, rangetime for handgun proficiency, written test, passport photos and a background check. Also there is a waiting period which averages about 50-60 days. Restriction include age and no felonies or history of domestic violence. Last edited by O6nop; February 4, 2007 at 08:42 PM. ...And about 10 other points to disqualify you from getting a TX CHL, including owing state (TX) school loans.
Texas has got to be the state with the most disqualifiers for a CHL I have yet seen. And no open-carry here, either (but hopefully the TCDL will change that). Looking forward to moving to New Mexico...or back to Virginia! -- John D. |

All that said, it is still worth doing!
If you are in the DFW area, and are looking for a class, or have any questions, pm me. Note--I am not an instructor, and I have no vested interest in any class. |

The site http://www.packing.org/ has detailed information about every state's concealed-carry laws.
