Touch Up of Aluminum SIG Frame
I am wanting to touch up a spot on the aluminum frame of my SIG. Is Birchwood Casey's Aluminum Black any account for this? Any other suggestions? I am wanting something that wouldn't come off with cleaning solvents. TIA.

There are two Birchwood Casey aluminum touch-up products that I know of. There is one that is essentially a paint and comes in a pen (I think it's called "Super Black"). It will wear off any friction surface right now. There is another product that comes in a small (2 or 3 oz; I think this product is called "Aluminum Black") bottle. I don't know what's in it, but it does seem to chemically react with the surface, and it is somewhat more permanent. I have used it, and it hasn't come off with cleaning solvents, at any rate.

Try black magic marker - permanent. Won't last long, but it is cheap!

I have used the BC Aluminum Black on various aluminum alloy gun parts, including a SIG frame and trigger. It does work, though it typically is not a perfect match for the factory finish. I haven't found any other consumer products that chemically blackens aluminum. [Maybe checking with Brownell's will turn up other options.]
Paints and markers sometimes fit the bill on alloy parts, but often don't wear as long or as well as chemical blackening. The Brownell's Aluma-Hyde 2-part spray finish is not too bad, and the finish is matte black.
