I looked at building an SPX after I saw one at the NRA Show before they were released. Here's what I came up with:

Mossberg 930 "Home Security" model..................... $375
Picitinny rail .......................................................$ 30
Choate (+2) Mag Extention....................................$ 45
LPA rear sight (BAR11W).......................................$124
LPA front sight (SG4)........................................... $ 70
TOTAL..............................................................$644

This one still wouldn't have the "tactical" breacher barrel, though. I've seen the 930SPX on-line for under $500

I got the 590 single point sling adaptor in. No joy. Now that I have the stock off it's a no brainer. there is a "nipple at the top and the action tube is fatter then the bolt hole on the 500/590's. Now i am going to have to have something made

I got in the Choate +1 extension. Now I should have enough room for mounting the light with the breacher:

I will post range results on the 930 as soon as I can.
Desert01,

Can you use your connections to confirm??? Or, maybe get a prototype???

TBT,

When you get it in call Choate and have them send you the +2 extension for "Security" mode.

Smitty thanks! I checked there about a week ago and didn't see it. Not sure what was going on but they didn't have many guns listed at all at that time and they usually have a ton.

Desert ... will do man. Thanks!

Smitty,

It looks like you have actualy taken that SPX out shooting, and over all not been nice to it. You might need to send to me for better treatment.

The way I look at it, it's made to be used, not "babied"...

I keep it clean and keep the innards lightly lubed, that way if anybody asks if it can handle abuse, all they have to do is take a look at her, they'll see she's not a "safe queen". Actually, the first scatch on the barrel hurt a little bit, but after that....lets just say, I don't worry when I'm climbing over and around the jersey barriers on our "combat" course

Maybe if I paid Benelli prices for it I'd feel differently....

newbie

just bought a 930 spx (less than $600 out-the-door at dicks) and gotta say that i think i've done good considering that this "popped my cherry". i've never even shot a 12g let alone an autoloader but after the 1st pull i was hooked and grinning ear to ear.....and then i stumble upon this forum and read nothing but goodness from you fellas about the 930. well i'm just warm all over. i'll keep reading and learning from you fellas on how to make my mossy "mine". btw - i'd like to see knoxx ind. make a pistgrip-stock for my baby.

If you take off the recoil pad you will see that A Knoxx will not work. Like the 11-87 the 930 SPX has "junk in the trunk", so to speak, that keep the Knoxx from being an option. At least for now. Choate should have on out for you soon enough though.

knoxx stock..."knott!!"

ok...dang, but no worries. i'll just wait for the choate then. thanx for the heads-up and pic! hope to post some of my own soon.
i'm not sure as to how far i'll go with add-ons after a pistgrip stock since this thing is just so dang sexy out-the-box (not to mention so dead-on that i did not even have to make any adjustments to the rear). i'll try to keep it tactical and away from "tacky-tool". thanx again to Desert01.

Online will generally get you the best prices, for example:

R & R Arms has a Field / Deer Combo for $425.27 (plus shipping & FFL tarnsfer):
http://www.rrarms.com/catalog.php?prod=G85238

Dicks Sporting Goods runs "specials" sometimes that have two barrels, two stocks (one a monte carlo), and a scope for $449.99.

You could also try Big 5....

Wilderness Giles Sling

Call and tell them your going to use it on the 930, but mine seems fine.

would anyone know if choate has come closer to producing a pist/grip stock for the spx yet? or possibly another manufacturer (with a reputable history of course)?

On another board someone got an e-mail from Choate that said they were on track with the stock for December..

Another BONUS, they said the were working on an oversize "combat" bolt handle for the SPX, like this one:
