I am looking for a good load for 168gr Sierra MatchKing?
I have a couple of boxes of Sierra MatchKing 168gr, and some varget, I was just curious to see what people were loading if anyone else has something similar going?
I plan on loading for accuracy, and I will be shooting it out of my FNH SPR A1, 24" bbl, with a 1:12 twist. I am also open to other powders, and I also have a couple of boxes of 168gr Hornady A-max sitting around too

A cartridge that you are reloading would be helpful.

try 44-45gn of varget with that bullet.and you can also try 42-43gn of 4064.these are the charges I use with a 168gn bullet out of my 5R with a 11:.225 twist.so I would think that you just might get the same results.just work up and be safe.as you should already know one barrel isn't the same as another.and my bras is rem or lapua with the same results.haven't tried win brass yet.but read the the win brass guys use the same loads.so go for it.

Try 45.3 grs Varget with a COL of 2.850. A lot of the bench guys use that load. Another good powder to try is VV N135 if you have it.

I agree with the previous two posts.
43-45 grains of Varget works well for me in my Rem700P and M1A. I've also had success with 42-43 grains of RE-15. Al of the above with CCI Br-2 or Federal 210M primers, Lapua, Nosler or Federal bras. Measure what your mag and thoat depth can accept for COAL but start with 2.8".

Make sure you use WW or Lapua brass, if you use LC or other military brass, drop the charge at least 2 grains. I load 44 grains of Varget under a 175 Sierra, but it is a really hot load, and I only shoot it in a certain single action bolt rifle.

This is my best load so far for that bullet and powder. Five shot group at 100 yards, using brand new, straight out of the box Lapua brass, bullet set to touch the rifling of a stock 26" 700p, with a 3-9x Leupold Rifleman scope. The single hole from the center of the group was the first shot, clean/cold bore.

168 match king load
I have had great groups using 43 gr of varget with that bullet in my Rem 700. Yours may be different but it's worth a try. Good luck and good shooting.
