hi point 9mm carbine sling stud

Im looking for some technical advise. I recently bought a used Hi Point model 995 9mm carbine. It shoots surprisingly well and over all I'm very happy with it. There is one glitch though - the rear sling stud is mounted on the right side of the stock. This would be great if I was left handed, but I'm not. I disassembled the stock (splits in half along the length of the stock), but I can't figure out how to removed the threaded nut that is in the stock so I can move it to the other side. Is it just press fit in there? Is it removeable? Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks
