Try going to http://www.subguns.com. Go to their message boards section and then to NFA Ads. You'll find what you're looking for there, but be prepared for sticker shock. Thompson's are ranging from about $5,500.00 for 80's vintage West Hurley guns to $12,000 for early Model 28's. Your average WWII vintage will run you around $8,000.

Also, you could try to get in touch with a fella named Nick Tilotta who owns Western Firearms Co. based in Grapevine Texas (I think). Anyway, he has a website and he deals only in NFA weapons. Good honest guy which is very important when dealing with NFA weapons especially considering the numerous hoops a person has to jump through in order to obtain one of these gems. He can certainly walk a buyer through the process.

Good luck.

Even the WH Thompson are going in the 6.5-8K range (don't know why), but you are right about the original 28 Thompsons going for about 8K.

http://www.subguns.com is a great place to start. If you search long and frequently you will eventually find an original Thompson between 6.5 and 7K, but you better act fast, because at that price, it will sell quickly. (They do pop up every so often.)

Although all NFA items are increasing in price each year, the Thompsons seem to be doing it at a quicker pace. So, if you really want one, I would not rush in, but rather move quickly.

If you are interested, the following link is to a Thompson specific message board.

Good Luck,
Jim
