10x scope - Enough to see bullet holes at 100 yards?

Will a fixed 10x power scope be enough for me to see my .223 bullet holes at 100 yards?

You should be able to, but it depends on the weather, target material and what is behind the target. Shoot-N-See type targets really help

Depends on the quality of your glass and of your own eyes. I wear contacts and can see bullet holes in regular cardboard at 100yds with a cheap Konus $60 3-9X scope with my 10/22. Must be a sunny day though. My 24X $100Simmons on my 308 is easily seen.

I cant see that at 100 yards with my Weaver T10. I use a spotting scope for such. Between 20-24 power. Any more then that all you get is mirage.
I can see 223 holes at 200 and some times at 300 with the above spotting scope.

I use that same model scope on my 308 and I can see the holes at 100, but not at 200.

If you have good quality optics, you should have no trouble seeing your holes with a 5 or 6 power scope.
High magnification is not always as good as high quality.

I can see .223 holes at 100 yd with my 1-5 Leupold and I can also see them using my TA-11 ACOG, which is 3.5 power.

I've found that the type of target makes a HUGE difference. If you are shooting at a black target, the holes made by the bullets are also black. Now you are trying to see a black hole in a black circle, and that becomes rather difficult. If you can shoot at a target that has more white on it (say a circle with a dot in the middle), it is MUCH easier to see the holes on the white paper. If not, Shoot-n-c targets are your friend, especially farther out.

I agree on the target type. I make my own rifle targets which are small black donuts on a white background. Very easy to see your holes.

Target type for sure. I have a hard enough time seeing 7.62 holes at 100 yds with a 45X spotting scope if it's the standard black targets our ranges give you.
