On my way to a DIY "ballistics" calculator.. sort of. :)

I always like trying new stuff in Excel, work or pleasure; anyway, tonight was a quiet night, so I dug in. Using Federal's basic information for the .308 Gold Medal Match, I set up a curve fit calculation, and now I can plug in target height, Observed target height in MILS, get a range, and the calculated hold-over. I thought it was pretty sweet. It's accurate plus/minus 1" out to 500.

Of course, I'll actually have to go out and shoot these ranges to get real numbers, but all in all, it was pretty satisfying to see this work (so well).

I stopped reading after I saw the red/yellow/green dots.

Winchester Ammo has a ballistics application on line that can be downloaded for use with the I phone.

I have seen a ballistics caculator from Nikon also.

As you say Excel is your friend too
