california Ammo restrictions???

Hello all:

Yesterday I ordered some 30-06 and .38 super from Sportsman Guide as I have done for several years. I enjoy their surplus ammo, which makes for great practice session at the range.

Today I got an email from them saying that they will no longer ship to California, due to restrictions that the Calif laws impose on them.

Would anyone know anything about these new laws??

I am truly sick of these liberal laws that claim to protect the weak and innocent from brute gun owners and shooters..

Is anyone out there up to date on this ammo restrictions?

Thanks.

Some counties prohibit receiving ammunition by common carrier. (I'm in Los Angeles county; legal here and I've never had a problem.) AFAIK cheaperthandirt.com still ships to California with no restrictions.

I think some companies are just scared when they read all the hoopla about serialized ammunition and such, so they try to avoid headaches by simply not shipping to some states.

If you want to buy locally, Turner's usually has deals on ammo. I was there yesterday and picked up a few boxes of Blazer Brass for $11 each (.45ACP).

Just order from CTD. Never had a problem with them and very good prices. Instead of updating themselves on the laws regarding the products they sell, SG would rather cutoff an entire state from their customer base.

From a glance at its website http://www.sportsmansguide.com/
they sell tracer ammo, which, generally, can't be had in California. Might California want to audit or otherwise have access to SG's books & records?

Ref. Calif. Penal Code (PC):
12301. (a) The term "destructive device," as used in this chapter,
shall include any of the following weapons:
(1) Any projectile containing any explosive or incendiary material
or any other chemical substance, including, but not limited to, that
which is commonly known as tracer or incendiary ammunition, except
tracer ammunition manufactured for use in shotguns.
(2) Any bomb, grenade, explosive missile, or similar device or any
launching device therefor.

ALSO

PC 12020: no "high capacity" magazines (rds. > 10), other than those already owned, which SG also sells.

You need to pay better attention to what is going on your state—and become vocal, and help do something about it.

In particular, you (as a San Franciscan) are about to lose the right to keep any of your guns...If Proposition H passes, you're going to be so screwed...

Vote NO on Preparation H.

I won't take the next step.

I'll shut up now.
