Another revolver I would suggest looking at is the Ruger GP101.

Well, if it's got the mother's looks and the father's build, sure... Why not?

I removed the screw holding the grips together. Then I saw that under the top of the grip was a screw plus the 1 to the left and right of the trigger. I removed all three.

The screw under the cylinder holds it in its place. The one to the left of the trigger I have no bloody idea what it does.

There is a green round part that I think holds the trigger assembly in place???

I carefully lubricated this area as best I could then put the 3 screws back in its place and then did the same for the grips.

My R461 now fires both DA & SA as before but I don't know if somehow a small piece of whatever got caught up in the trigger assembly. I now have a "HUGE TRUST ISSUE" with the gun.

I'll go to my range Monday and put it thru my normal paces. Six shots out of the R461, 5 shots out of the LCR and 6 out of the GP 100. I figure using approx 2 boxes of 50 or 3 boxes should tell me that all's well. My other Rossi R461.R462 all were super guns and never never gave me any problems.

But, even if the R461 works flawlessly, I'm going to trade it in towards either the 686 plus 2.5 " or the SP 101 2.25 ". This time, I'm leaning towards the Smith.
The SP 2.25" is 26 ozs. and a 5 shot the Smith 2.5" is 34.1 ozs. and is a 7 shot.
I've always carried a heavier gun. My Python weighes 38 ozs. empty so the Smith at 34 is no big deal. My GP 100 weighes 40 ozs. I think that I now know what I'm going to get.

Thank you one and all for your suggestions and your help. I would have never tried to solve this issue myself without the help from The Forum.

With very humble appreciation thanks,
Doc

May not be what you are looking for, (i.e. Not a revolver, small or lightweight) but my vote is Coonan.

I jus put 200 rounds through my new toy today and it is a joy to shoot.

You might want to consider the new, six-shot Kimber snub-nose revolver, chambered in .357 Magnum and having a shrouded hammer. Though not exactly small or light-weight, it does weigh a reasonable 23 ounces.

Went to buds and got the SP101 2.25" 357mag. Gave me a decent TI for the Rossi and after handling the Smith 686+ and the Ruger, the Ruger felt better balanced.
Thanks ,
Doc

Doc,
Get 2 1/2" Ruger Security Six. A great, compact rugged .357. They are not in demand like the 4" models are.

+1 on a Security Six.
I love my 4" stainless model.
I don't know if the previous owner did a trigger job or not,
but is has a really sweet 7.5 lbs DA pull, and only about 2lbs on SA.

Here are a few 2.75" on gunbroker right now.

Ruger also made the Police and the Speed Six, they have fixed sights.

Thanks all for eveyone's advice. I got the SP-101 2.25" and am very pleased. First time I ever shot so well with a new gun. The finish on it is very cool.
I put Hogue grips on it and waiting forthe Wolff Spring kit. I'm getting very bold in my old age.
