Does Anyone Know if A Civilian can Buy a Remington 870 Police Model?
Pure curiosity at this point, but I've noticed that the Remington 870 police models (the ones featured on the Remington LE website http://www.remingtonle.com) have all the features I would want in an 870 (i.e. improved chokes, ghost ring sights etc.). So, assuming the model doesn't have any features that would make it illegal for civilian ownership (e.g. < 18" barrel), can a dealer order one for a civilian?

Any ideas where I might get one? Can a FFL Dealer just order one? Do have have to find a LE distributor willing to sell me one?

From what I know some dealers are just Remington distributors, where others are both REM and REM LE distributors. You will need to find one that handles the LE firearms as well. Don't let tham make it seem like it is a bid deal, cause it is not! A good shop should be more than glad to get your business.
It is legal to own the LE firearms for sure, my friend has an 870 LE and he is non-LEO. Quote:

CDNN Investements
Give them a call. Ask for Brian. He has them in stock 18" and 20". They start at $339 plus $15 shipping NIB. Give him your zip code and he will give you the name of an FFL dealer in your area. Call the FFL and setup the transaction. Good luck.

CDNN is a terrific company with which to deal.
Mike PS. Police are "civilians".

9mm mike,
You're right. I try not to perpetuate that civilian/police thing myself. I should have said can a non LEO buy one. Thanks for pointing that out! |
